Devotees offer special prayers to Lord Shiva during Sravana Maasam and offer fruits, milk etc. But in Kurnool district's Kodumuru, devotees offer Scorpions to God in this month especially on 3rd Monday following the tradition for decades. According to the significance of the tradition once, there lived a couple Souraiah and Annapurna in Kodumuru. They offered God to present scorpions on getting a son as they had been having daughters continuously. Later they fulfilled their offerings as they got blessed with a son which became a tradition since then.
