Heavy rains have been lashing Adilabad district and the surrounding areas from the past couple of days, leading to scores of villages being submerged and crops destroyed. Soya, Red Gram, Jowar and other crops in nearly 1.23 lakh acres are submerged in flood waters, leading to an estimated loss of Rs. 32 crores, officials said. Collector Divya has directed the officials to be alert and take all necessary steps to prevent lost of life. She, along with local public representatives and officials, toured the submerged villages in some 17 mandals, in boats, to estimate the loss.
