Heavy rains in K'nataka; 2 die, 5 dists. on high alert
At least two people have lost their lives in incessants heavy rains and flooding from the past couple of days in Karnataka. Five districts have been put on high alert, after Chief Minister, Kumaraswamy directed officials to gear up for further destruction. Indian Metrology Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in the state in the coming days. Traffic between Bengaluru and Mangaluru has been stopped due to waterlogging of roads. Several districts are inundated. Schools remained shut and people have been advised to remain indoors. National Disaster Relief Forces (NDRF) have been deployed to evacuate people from low-lying areas.
