Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee’s Condition Critical; on Ventilator
Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has been facing health complications and he was undergoing treatment at one of the Hospitals in Kolkata. According to the reports, the veteran CPM leader has been suffering from Kidney ailments and he has been put under ventilator. He has been taking treatment from August 10 in the Hospital. He served as the Lok Sabha Speaker from 2004 to 2009 during the UPA-1 regime. Chatterjee is one of the longest-serving parliamentarians, and was a member of the Lok Sabha from 1971 to 2009, except in the 1984 election when he was defeated by Mamata Banerjee.
