Even as there is a 12-hour let up in the situation in Kerala, the situation is still grave with almost half the state submerged under flood waters. At least 29 people have died and nearly 54,000 have been rended homeless in the rains that lashed the state for four days, since August 8th. All the 44 rivers in the state are in spate and gates of 24 dams have been opened. Chief Minister (CM) Pinarayi Vijayan took an aerial survey of the affected areas. Idukki, Enakulam, Vayanad, Mallapuram were among the worse affected.
