Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cleared setting up of 13 Central Universities all over the country. Uttar Pradesh got the lion share of 5 Central Universities, 2 Central Universities in Maharashtra, 2 in Bihar, one each in Telangana, Jharkhand, Manipur and Karnataka. In Telangana, Central University will be coming up at Siddipet. More than 13,000 students will benefit once the Central Universities start functioning. The CCEA gave approval for starting a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Madhya Pradesh.
