Ahead of 2014 General Election, the Congress was a major party in India. It was having UPA government led by PM Manmohan Singh. After the AP bifurcation and the way it was divided, the Congress lost its political power and the people in the two Telugu states have taught a bitter lesson to the Congress and this has led to the defeat of the Congress in the two Telugu States. Former CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy of United Andhra Pradesh who faced much criticism during the state bifurcation time remained silent for four years and he distanced himself from political activities. After the state division, Kiran Kumar Reddy left the Congress and formed his own party Jai Samaikyandhra Party opposing the centre's decision on bifurcation of the Andhra Pradesh state. But Kiran Kumar Reddy has once again rejoined Congress today keeping aside all his personal political activities. It made the Congress cadre happy.
