Statistics on the ration of food produced and consumed in India show that at least an enormous three fourths of it is wasted. Most waste occurs in the process of post-production distribution. But humans waste a lot of food, in hotels, parties and even at home. Meanwhile, there are millions who are starving and have no means to produce food. While the contrast is glaring, there are agencies that are involved solely in collecting extra food and distributing it to the needy.
