Type 2 diabetes could be signal for pancreatic cancer

Tue, Jun 19, 2018, 11:17 AM
Going by a recent study in the field of diabetes and health, type 2 diabetes may be an early expression of pancreatic cancer. The new study published by Oxford University Press indicated that the recent-onset diabetes was associated with a 2.3-fold greater risk of pancreatic cancer than the long-standing history of diabetes. With the tag of the most fatal cancers and a five-year survival rate of only 8 per cent, the majority of pancreatic cancer patients are diagnosed at a later stage. Diabetes is linked to both, a risk factor for as well as a consequence of pancreatic cancer.
