Railways Experimenting Airplane Like Toilets In Trains
Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Indian Railways is planning to replace all the 2.5 lakh toilets inside train coaches with vacuum bio-toilets soon. The Minister said the proposal is moved as a part of railways plan to improve its amenities in order to compete with the airline sector. The vacuum bio-toilets, which cost around Rs 2.5 lakh per unit has cut down water usage by 1/20th. Replacing the bio-toilets with the latest version was envisaged to enhance passenger amenities, the minister added.
