Elephants scare devotees at Srivari Padalu, in Tirumala
Elephant menance has hit the devotee rush at Akkagarla gudi of Srivari Padalu area, in Tirumala. A group of elephants have been visiting this region, from the nearby thickly forested Narayanadri hills. They are creating havoc, felling trees and squatting on the road leading to the temple. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) officials have re-scheduled the visting hours of the temple and informed the forest officials, who are trying to drive the elephants away into the forests. It is risky for pilgrims to visit the temple as long as the elephants are roaming in the area.
