At least 40 people killed as heavy storm hits nation

At least 40 persons were killed as heavy dust storm and rain hit various parts of the country including capital Delhi on Sunday. Flights were grounded with the wind blowing at a speed of 70 km per hour and trees were uprooted. In Uttar Pradesh alone, 18 people were killed. The IMD office said thunderstorms are expected across north-west India over the next 48-72 hours because of several weather phenomenon including western disturbances. In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was saddened over the loss of lives.
