Viral 'Monkey selfie' case settled by the US Court

Wed, Apr 25, 2018, 08:19 PM
Monkey who snapped viral selfie doesn't own copyright, the US Court has ruled. A legal battle between British photographer David Slater and the animal rights group PETA took place as PETA filed a suit in 2015 on the monkey's behalf. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, a US-based animal rights group(PETA) claimed the photographer had infringed copyright since the monkey had taken the picture himself. The court ruling dismissed PETA's case, but the British photographer still agreed last October to donate 25 percent of the earnings.
