40-yr ban ends: Saudi Arabia opens first movie theatre
Saudi Arabia on Wednesday launched its first commercial movie theatre by ending the 40-year ban. Crown prince took a decision to open movie theatre to modernise deeply conservative Muslim kingdom. A red carpet event was held in which senior government officials, foreign dignitaries and select industry figures have attended. On the first day, Hollywood film Black Panther was screened on a 45 feet screen in Riyadh. The tickets will go on sale from Thursday for the first public viewing on Friday.
