Dalit enters Jiyaguda temple on Chilkur Balaji priest shoulders

Rangrajan, head priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple, at Jiyaguda in Hyderabad, carried a young Dalit devotee on his shoulders into the temple, to prove that everyone is equal in the eyes of the Lord. Similar event was enacted in Lord Ranganathaswamy temple in Tamil Nadu, some 2,000 years ago. A huge number of devotees, officials and some spiritual heads were present at the temple to witness the event. The Dalit man was carried inside amidst Vedic hymns and songs of Annamacharya being rendered by some.
