Over 71 spouses of H1B Visa holders have acquired work permits in United States of America (USA). Out of them, 90 per cent are Indians. The process began during Obama's term, by issuing work permits to spouses of those immigrants who had H1B Visas for over six years and who had applied for green cards for permanent residency. US Immigration authorities have released a report to this effect. The information was gathered through US Freedom of Information Act, which is similar to Right To Information Act (RTI), in India. The Trump administration will scrap this and introduce new rules from June.
