Almost all parties have been rallying for a shutdown of the Andhra Pradesh state. The main demand is to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has extended his government's support to the 'National Highways blockade programme'. The bandh is aimed to block roads and railway tracks. Apart from the ruling TDP, the bandh was called by the principal opposition party YSRCP and backed by Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena party. The TDP, which quit the NDA has tabled a no-confidence motion against the Modi government.
