Ugadi, the New Year of South Indians is incomplete without Holige (Bobbattu, Puran Poli). It is a traditional flat, sweet dish that is made out of flour, jaggery and dal or coconut. Come Ugadi and every South Indian family is celebrating with all kinds of traditional sweet and savoury dishes, especially Holige. But these days, everyone is busy and has no time to prepare elaborate dishes at home. However, vendors are coming out with a variety of this traditional sweet, just a couple of days around Ugadi, and people are thronging these shops.
