Mumbai mayor shrugs off responsibility for fire that killed 14

Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) mayor, Viswanath Mahadeshwar, simple evaded the questions of media over the huge blaze that burned down three pubs, killing 14 innocents. The tragedy has thrown light on the gross negligence of authorities regarding building norms and fire safety measures. After the tragedy, the mayor said that five officials have been suspended, an enquiry has been ordered and action will be taken after the report comes out. He gave no deadlines nor did he specify the severity of the action.
