People prefer white and fine polished rice than coarse rice now-a-days which is good for health and more over it has it's own side effects. Polished rice has more of carbohydrates than nutrients. In Telangana & Rayalaseema people used to eat mostly millets like sorghum, corn, oats, maize, & Bajra which are the local crops other than paddy. It is always good to eat local crops whether it is vegetables, fruits, cereals or pulses. It is good to supply millets to welfare hostels as they are rich in nutrients rather polished rice which causes sugar, BP, & Obesity as side effects.
