At least 15 babies from Nalgonda Sishu Vihar, have been admitted to Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad, from the past two months, with infections. The condition of one of them is serious and the baby has been admitted to ICU, said Dr. Murali Krishna, Superintendent of Niloufer. Most of the cases are infections due to lack of mother's milk and unhygienic conditions, he said. While these incidents are not uncommon, training is being given to the staff, to wash their hands, before touching the babies. The risk of infections in these babies is at least 40 per cent high, as they are away from their mothers, he said.
