Recently, scientists at an Oregon based lab successfully carried out the first known attempt at creating genetically modified human embryos in the US to correct a disease causing mutation. But, many believe that we are still far from a future where gene editing can be used to make super babies. A study published in the journal Nature describes the process which involves the changing the DNA of large number one-cell embryos, using a gene-editing method called CRISPR-Cas9. CRISPR is a technique that allows scientists to edit genomes.
