Special Report: Shortage of toilets in govt. schools - HMTv

Tue, Jun 13, 2017, 11:41 AM
A special report on government schools in Andhra Pradesh (AP) revealed that not even 20 per cent of over 3,000 schools have toilets. Even the few existing ones are either defunct or not usable. The Supreme Court (SC) had ordered that schools should have adequate and well-maintained toilets, especially for girls. But even this is being flouted. Students spend seven hours in school, and attend toilet at least three times. However, the authorities have failed to meet the needs of school-going children, it is observed.
