Landslides on Badrinath route; tourists stranded

Heavy landslides occurred at Vishnu Prayag, on the way to Badrinath temple, in the rocky terrain of Uttarakhand state. As a result, some 15,000 tourists were stranded. The situation might become tomorrow afternoon, authorities said. Meanwhile, efforts are being made by the officials to see if there are any casualties. They are trying to reach out to the tourists, to prevent further threat. Badrinath is 35 kms away from Vishnu Prayag, where the landslides occurred. The perilous journey is undertaken by thousands of tourists every year.
