Fishermen, led by Central Industrial Trade Unions (CITU), who are residents of villages adjoining Ramky Pharma City in Visakhapatnam, staged a huge protest in front of the company office. They blocked the gates and did not allow vehicles to ply. They are protesting against increasing pollution in the area and in the sea, where effluents from the Pharma City are flowing out. They have lost their livelihoods, they said. They were promised jobs in Pharma City when it had come up, but did not get them, the locals said. Police dispersed the mobs and maintained law and order.
