Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Kishan Reddy condemned the hike in reservations for Muslims, on the criteria of religion. They can be given reservations based on social backwardness, but not on religious basis, he said. This is against the Constitution, he added. Also, he condemned the clubbing of Girijan reservations with that of Muslims, which will delay the process and cause injustice to the Tribals. Quoting from the Reservations Bill of Tamil Nadu, he said that there Minorities, both Muslims and Christians were together getting just 3.5 per cent reservations.
