The entire Northeastern zone of the country experienced mild tremors this afternoon, even as Tripura State was jolted by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake. The quake lasted for about four to five seconds. No casualties were reported immediately. Panic-stricken people rushed out of their houses and shops and ran into the streets when they felt the tremors. Shillong Central Seismological Observatory recorded the quake on the Richter scale as 5.7. The quake affected the entire Northeastern zone and surrounding districts of Bangladesh.
