India has overtaken its erstwhile colonial master United Kingdom over the rapid economic growth in its last 25 years. India has surpassed UK in terms of size of the economy in nearly 150 years. Economic think-tank Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) earlier in December 2011, predicted that India would become the fifth largest by 2020, but interestingly, India has achieved this significant milestone much sooner. Due to Britain's recent Brexit-related problems and India's rapid economic growth, India surpassed UK in GDP. India has thus become the fifth largest economy of the World.
