The destruction spree of VARDAH CYCLONE continues in Chenna, even after two hours after it crossed the coast, in north Tamil Nadu region. High waves in the sea have inundated several areas, close to the coast. While star hotels brazed the high speed winds with broken glass panes, blown off panels and hoardings, vehicles turned topsy turvy and rolled off the roads and parking lots. The winds are still continuing to cause havoc with trees and electric poles blowing off. Even as electricity supply has been shut down, rains continue to pound the city that has turned dark and desolate. Railway and Air services have been hit severely. While several trains, including MMTS and suburban have stopped moving, the airport remained shut.
