West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Bannerjee has sent an acerbic reply to Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, to his letter to her not to drag Army in to political tangles. She said that no proper permission was taken by the Defence Ministry from the State Government to deploy Army personnel in large numbers in civilian areas. There should be better coordination, she said. Earlier, Parrikar expressed anguish at Mamatha's charge that Army had staged a coup and urged her to stop dragging the Army in to politics. Her statements are feared to lower the Army morale he had written.
