Iraqi security forces are moving closer to the Islamic State stronghold of Mosul, taking the town of Hammam al-Alil this week and advancing on the village of Karama. With rifles and rockets, Iraq's rapid response forces attacked Islamic State militants in the village of Karama. Major General Thamer al-Husseini said that soldiers are having confidence that they can capture Mosul. The military commander said that Iraqi troops are moving forward with coalition forces. He stated that Mosul is surrounded now and IS militants cannot escape.
