Devotees, majority of who are women, swarmed anthills in their localities, all over Telangana, to celebrate Nagulachavithi today. Snakes are worshipped for the festival which falls on the fourth day after Diwali. The anthills near Renuka Yellamma and Bhoodevi temples in Nalgonda district are crowded with devotees. They poured milk into the holes of the mud-hills and dropped eggs in them as offerings. The mud on the hills is said to cure hearing problems and ear ailments. Children burst firecrackers on the occasion.
