In the wake of fears by some devotees to Krishna Pushkarams that they might fall ill due to contaminated water, the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government announced that there is no harmful bacteria in Krishna waters. The water was sent to the lab for testing and was declared clean. Just as a precautionary measure, the government has undertaken chlorination of the river waters at every ghat. Meanwhile, the water flow has risen at Jogulamba ghat in Mahbubnagar district of Telangana and devotees are being warned against staying too long inside the bathing ghats.
