Use of tobacco products like cigarettes, gutka, pan parga, zarda, etc., is causing 25 lakh deaths a year, globally. Out of these 75 per cent of them are from India, a new survey said. Extensive campaign against these addictions, by the Centre and State, is of no avail. A team led by a university lecturer in England conducted the survey in 115 countries. The tobacco addicts are dying due to mouth, throat and oesophagus cancers.
