The Andhra Pradesh state government is proposing to shift 40-years-old 625-acre Indira Gandhi Zoological Park to another remote place near Visakhapatnam. This has drawn flak from various sections of people. CPM has strongly objected to it and staged a dharna at Visakha Collectorate to take back their decisions. Some of the social and student organisations took pot-shots at the State government and alleged that it is a plan of commercial establishment. They have also alleged that AP government has tied up the plans with Singapore government.
