Co-hosts New Zealand got off to a glorious start with a 98-run thumping victory over Sri Lanka in the starting match of the World Cup in Christchurch today. New Zealand Captain Brendon McCullum struck amazing 65 off 49 balls as the Kiwis put on a rapid 111 for the first wicket. Corey Anderson shattered 75 off 46 balls to help the hosts to a grand total of 331-6 from their 50 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka dwindled to 233 all out. Daniel Vettori of New Zealand took 2-34.
