Prime Minister Modi, speaking in Lok Sabha on the hate speech of BJP Minister Sadhvi Niranjan, said that he had expressed annoyance over the minister's remarks even before the issue was raised in Parliament. He said, "Nobody can approve of such remarks. I am grateful to leaders in Lok Sabha for allowing House to function amid the controversy. The minister has apologized. She is a new member from a rural background, we all know this. Senior members should be generous enough to forgive a new member who has apologized."
