A male Asiatic lion that came in search of food fell into an open well accidentally in in Amrapur village, some 85 kilometres west of Junagadh city, Gujarat. Villagers, who noticed the lion, informed the forest officials, rescued the big cat with the help of a cot without administering any anesthetic. The injured animal was then administered medication and later released in the forest near Junagadh. According to latest reports only tens of lions now survive in the forest of Junagadh.
