Mumbai, April 3, 2015:At a time when groups and political parties are sparring over religions, a 13-year old class 6 Muslim student topped among 4500 students in an examination on Bhagavad Gita conducted by International Society for Krishna Consciousness.( ISKCON ) here.

Students from 195 schools participated in the contest conducted to extract the best interpretations on Bhagavad Gita.

ISKCON distributed free English versions of Bhagavad Gita to all participating students asking them to read it and understand its essence thoroughly. After a month, written test was conducted with a 100 questionnaire.

The schools appointed some experienced teachers to guide the students for various groups in reading and understanding the meanings of slokas in Bhagavad Gita.

Mariyan Asif Siddique , a student of Cosmopolitan High School at Meera Road, also participated in the contest on her own and topped the written examination.

While Mariyan says that it was very interesting to read Bhagavad Gita, her proud father Asif Siddique said:"From the very beginning, I am asking my children to respect all religions as they only teach principles of humanity. I am proud that my daughter did what I could not do all these years."

"I learnt the golden rules of life by reading this sacred book," Mariyan added after receiving her first prize and carrying Bhagavad Gita in her hands.
