Gas leakage at ONGC well fixed by experts

Machilipatnam, Feb 24, 2015: The blow out at the ONGC drilling platform at Chinapandraka village in Krishna District has been fixed by experts Monday evening. District Collector A.Babu told reporters that the blow out of gas and crude occurred after the depth of the well reached a pressure point of 3800 meters from the ground. "Gas and crude started leaking out from the gas escaping equipment installed at the well," he said, adding that it was not actually a blow out. Speaking on the damage caused to the fields, he said that 30 acres of paddy fields were damaged with the spreading of the oil. "I have instructed officials to enumerate the crop damage so that the farmers can be compensated," he revealed. The Collector said that he has also asked the ONGC to adopt the village for all round growth.
