Wage row: Talasani directs Producers Council, Employees Federation to hold talks today

Hyderabad, June 23: Representatives of the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation met Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav here on Thursday and sought his help in resolving wage hike issue. The minister spoke with producer C. Kalyan, senior member of the Telugu Film Producers’ Council, and leaders of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and directed them to hold talks with Employees Federation leaders at 12 noon today.

Speaking to the media, Talasani said that leaders of Producers’ Council and Employees Federation hold negotiations for every three years on mutual understanding. “Negotiations were delayed because of coronavirus pandemic,” he said.

The minister stated that he asked the Employees Federation not to boycott film shootings. But a leader of the Producers’ Council told Talasani that workers boycotted all films except a Hindi movie. Contradicting the allegation, federation of 24 craft workers’ unions said that shootings of 12 films are underway. He wished that negotiations would benefit cine workers and producers.
