Speaker rejects Bhuma's privilege notice

Hyderabad, Dec 22, 2014: Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad has on Monday rejected the privilege notice issued by YSRCP Nandyala MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy. Nagi Reddy served the notice saying a rowdy sheet has been opened against him after the awkward incident in the Nandyala Municipal Council where Councillors of TDP and YSRCP had fought each other two months ago. Police booked cases against Nagi Reddy and some YSRCP councilors on the fighting. "False cases have been booked against me even though I am an MLA because I raised the issues on behalf of people. This is clearly an issue of violation of my privileges," he said moving the privilege motion but Speaker Kodela rejected it outright saying assembly has nothing to do with the incidents in a Municipal Council. As YSRCP members raised slogans against the rejection, the Speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes. Again, when the House re-assembled, Bhuma came before the podium and requested the Speaker to send the notice to the Privileges Committee at least. To this, the Speaker has agreed restoring peace in the House.
