Nag is second to none in devotional movies!

To continue the legacy of Akkineni Nageswara Rao, his son Nagarjuna entered the film industry. On the lines of his father, who enthralled the Telugu audiences of yesteryears with his performance in several devotional films, like Vipranarayana, Jayadeva, Bhaktha Tukaram and so on... Nagarjuna too treaded the same path and impressed the audiences with his performance in films like Annamayya, Ramadasu and Shirdi Sai.

His latest devotional film is ‘Om Namo Venkatesaya’ wherein Nag played the role of Hathiram Babaji. Directed by K Raghavendra Rao, the film has music from Keeravani and the story is provided by JK Bharavi. The film opened with houseful crowds across the globe and everyone is of the opinion that no other artiste could impress the audiences and fit to that role.

Saurabh Jain portrayed the role of Lord Venkateswara, while Anushka played the role of Krishnamma, a devotee, while Jagapatibabu, Pragna Jaiswal, Rao Ramesh, Vimala Raman, Vennela Kishore, Prabhakar, Raghubabu played the other important characters. The film was specially screened for Chiranjeevi and he watched the movie along with Nag a day before its release.

Later talking to the media, Chiru says, ‘Watching the film in itself is a wonderful experience. The devotion in a person would come out while watching the film. Especially, the second half is more enthralling. Our eyes will become wet unexpectedly while watching the film. Every scene in the film is extraordinary. While watching the film, we will get a feel that we too are travelling with the characters in the same period. Whatever it may be, such character could be done only by Nagarjuna and no other artiste of this generation could do such roles with that precision. He is great.”

The audio of the film scored by Keeravani was a big hit. Nagarjuna’s performance, Raghavendra Rao’s taking and Keeravani’s music is like a confluence (Triveni Sangamam). The film will have a great impact on our lives after watching.
