Women Empowerment key for social growth: Kavitha

Hyderabad, Feb.10 : Emphasizing the need for Women Empowerment, Nizamabad MP K Kavitha today said Andhra Pradesh Capital Amaravathi should flourish in terms of rapid growth and fast development in short notice of time.

Participating in World Women Parliamentarians Conference at Amaravathi, Kavitha while beginning her speech saying “Jai Telangana and Jai Andhra Pradesh” said while walking into this campus, she could recall what Gurajada Apparao said “Modern Woman can rewrite history” and her contribution for a new society is unavoidable. Indeed, society should emulate Gurajada Appa Rao for stating that woman empowerment is need of the hour for rebuilding the nation”.

Stating that some invisible restrictions are on women in western nations, Kavitha said, “In the US a woman could not become President even after 200 years of its Independence. However, in India our society accepted woman leadership citing Indira Gandhi becoming Prime Minister and there were many women sacrificed for social cause and nation and some became leaders. We need to pick some of the good things from our culture and use the services of women, who go through the lives in rural areas and push ahead for women empowerment. Even though in some nations women have no freedom to even to cast votes in general elections, she pointed out.

Kavitha also urged upon the leadership of international community to see that disparity and confining women to houses and kitchen should go. Asking the youth to make a habit of questioning, she exhorted the girls and women to follow brave woman Dubagunta Roshamma, who fought for prohibition for social cause.
