Payment of Wages (Amendment) Bill, 2017 introduced in LS
New Delhi, Feb 3 : Government introduced the Payment of Wages (Amendment) Bill, 2017 in the Lok Sabha, withdrawing the 2016 version.
The withdrawal of the Payment of Wages (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was opposed by RSP Member N K Premachandran on the ground that no ordinance can be promulgated replacing a bill which is pending in the House.
The RSP member said the present Bill has no new provisions so according to rules there was no justification in withdrawing the old bill.
The old bill had been introduced in the House by the Government in Winter Session of Parliament last year.
The old version of the Bill was finally withdrawn.
