Two from UP held for online fraud; Rs 45k seized

Hyderabad, Sept.3: Cyber Crime Police of Cyberabad have arrested two persons from UP for cheating 18 persons of Rs 18.6 lakh on the pretext of providing jobs in a Multi National Company and seized Rs 45,000 from their possession.

One of the victims from Kukatpally lodged a complaint with the police stating that on February 24 this year, he received a call from 08376019570 to his mobile number: 9642209689 and the caller introduced himself as Richa Agarwal calling from CapGemini HR Manager, New Delhi and offered jobs to the company at Bengaluru and Chennai in the post of trainee software engineers.

The Cyber Crimes Police, Cyberabad busted the online job fraudsters’ gang by arresting principal accused Neetu Kumar alias N.K.Upadhyay and Krishan Kumar alias Rajesh Kumar. They used to post advertisements on www.quiker.com, www.indeed.com, and www.shine.com for positions of Software trainees with Capgemini’s Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai campuses. Another accused Somesh Reddy of Karimnagar used to pick candidates, who agreed to pay money through the backdoor process for securing a job. Neetu Kumar asked the candidates to pay Rs 1,00,000 to 1,20,000.

The police recovered Rs 45,000, one HP Laptop, four mobile phones and cheque books used in the fraud, from the accused. The accused were brought to Hyderabad and remanded to judicial custody.

The case is being investigated by K. Bala Krishna Reddy, Inspector with the assistance of SI D. Ashish Reddy under the supervision of Jayaram, ACP, Cyber Crime PS, West and under the guidance of Stephen Ravindra, IPS, Jt. Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad.
