Complete SRSP Works by June: Harish Rao

Hyderabad, Sept.2: SRSP works should be completed by next June to release waters to crops in Nalgonda district, Irrigation Minister T Harish has said.
Holding a review meeting at Jalasaudha along with Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy here with officials Harish Rao expressed displeasure at the officials for tardy pace of works at Nagarjuna Sagar. The Minister asked to conduct Nagarjuna Sagar level canal dry run on Sept10 and wet run on 25.

The minister asked to speed up the works related to Musi River and call short-term tenders to remove waste material and take up de-silting in the canal to irrigate 30000 acres he said. He said that the government is ready with its proposals to spend Rs 56 cr for the Musi project modernization in a phased manner. The minister asked to speed up works of compensation and rehabilitation for victims of Pulichintala project and that of Udaya Samudram works of land acquisition avoiding delay which will cost dear.

Stating that Andhra Pradesh Government gave Rs 66 cr against Rs 117 cr sought for compensation and rehabilitation for Pulichintala project he asked the officials to take up the works of rehabilitation. The irrigation minister asked the officials to speed up land acquisition works of various projects including 191 acres in two packages for Nagarjuna Sagar, 2233 acres for Dindi balancing reservoir, 1911 acres for Pendlipakala reservoir and 1649 acres for Udayasamudram project.
