Downpour cripples normal life in Hyderabad city

Hyderabad, Aug.31: Hyderabad City was being deranged in a big way due to heavy rain lashed out on Wednesday for almost four hours. The people of the Hyderabad affected in a serious manner. Seven people died due to the fall of walls at Bholakpur and Ramanthapur areas.

The officials released water by opening the sluices as the water level reached to danger level in Hussain Sagar lake. The water level increased four feet due to heavy rain in the City. The Hyderabad Weather Department warned the people that the rain would hit the City for three more days and it was the first time after 15 years.

The drizzle started at 6 AM on Wednesday but it was severed after 7 AM and the heavy rain lashed out the city for almost two hours, but light to moderate rain continued till 11 AM. Today, the total Hyderabad city received heavy rain. According to Weather Department Amberpet received huge rain and recorded 9.5 centimeters.

Due to heavy rain, the traffic jammed everywhere. The traffic was severely jammed in the routes--- Hayathnagar, Kukatpally, Secunderabad severely. The water lagged at several places up to one-yard height. Two hours time took for the vehicles to reach Punjagutta from Kukatpally in the morning. Three to four hours time took to the vehicles to reach Dilsukhnagar to Miyapur.

The cars submerged one-third in the water. Three buses struck under Malakpet Railway Bridge. The local people saved the driver who was driving a car washed away due to flood at Chintal Basthi using threads. The vehicles stranded in water at Saifabad, Malakpet, Afzalgunj, Nagarjuna Circle, Panjagutta, Begumpet, Paradise and others places.

The employees of the government and private faced severe troubles due to heavy rains. The employees reached to their offices around 12 noon even though they started from their houses as usual. The Telangana government allowed the employees to enter one hour late. The MMTS officials cancelled several local trains due to heavy rains. The officials ran four MMTS trains at rush places.

Several government and private schools and colleges declared holiday due to heavy rain. But some management ran school even in the heavy rain as the students already reached to the schools.
