Harish Rao asks Centre Rs 2500 cr for projects

Hyderabad, Aug.31: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said that the Centre has to extend a financial assistance of Rs 7000 Cr for 11 pending projects under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchay Yojana Scheme (PMKSY). At a high-level review meeting on the projects and their status, the minister asked the officials to send the related proposals to the Centre in week days.

Harish Rao said that he would lead a team to the Centre to seek the funding for the projects in September second week. The minister said that the Centre has to give Rs 2500 cr for the projects and Rs 4500 cr Nabard loan. It may be said here that the Centre has selected a total of 99 such projects across the nation including 11 in Telangana and is to provide funds. An agreement in this regard has already been reached between the Centre, State and Nabard. Flood Canal project is to be completed by 2019 he said.

The 11 projects with year of permission accorded are – 7 medium level and four minor projects such as Komaram Bheem, Golla Vagu, Ralli Vagu, Mathadi Vagu, Pedda Vagu in 2006, Palem Vagu, SRSP second phase in 2005-06, Devadula and Jagannathapur, Rajiv Bheema lift in 2007. The Centre has to give 60 per cent of grants for completing these projects.
