Hyderabad, Aug.17: In a shocking incident, Police Sub-Inspector of Kukunurpally in Kondapaka Mandal of Medak district T. Ramakrishna Reddy committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at Tuesday midnight.

Ramakrishna Reddy, 46, left a suicide note in which he stated he was unable to bear the harassment by the higher-ups. He reported to have spoken to some of his colleagues over the phone and told them he was going to take the extreme step. However, by the time one of his colleagues reached his home at the police quarters, he was lying in a pool of blood and was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Ramakrishna Reddy earlier worked in various police stations in Hyderabad and is survived by wife and two children, who are living in Hyderabad. Hours before shooting himself to death, he called his wife and told her he was quitting the job.

The police are investigating into the case from the official harassment angle. Superintendent of Police Chandrasekhar Reddy, who visited the spot, said an inquiry was ordered into the incident, and Nizamabad Additional Superintendent of Police Pratap Reddy would conduct an inquiry.

The body was shifted to the Gajwel Area Hospital. The SI was a native of Bakkamantragudem village under Mathampally Mandal of Nalgonda district. Alleging that DSP Sridhar and Circle Inspector Venkataiah were responsible for the suicide and demanding action against them, Ramakrishna Reddy's relatives staged a dharna at Gajwel and traffic came to the standstill for some time.
